A decade’s long career as a respected Horticultural Professional has made me acutely aware of the frailties of our common natural environment. It has long been my belief, as a highly trusted visionary for one’s personal space out-of-doors, it is incumbent upon me to promote and employ only methods that serve to advance the rejuvenation of our soils, air, and water. I do not subscribe to the mantra of “do no harm.” Instead, I strongly adhere to a principle I refer to as “Creating Habitats for Responsible Outdoor Living.”
Career Highlights
The year 1972, Atlanta, Ga., marked the beginning of a decades long career in the Landscape Industry. The first few years were spent learning the proper techniques to become a competent Landscape Maintenance Professional. Unfortunately, many of these practices are no longer performed by the current mainstream landscape maintenance companies that are available to choose from today. This experience formed the basis for my desire to create gardens that were low maintenance by choosing the correct plants to fit a specific place. I quickly became enamored with the plant kingdom and sought to learn every new species I came across. My fascination with all the possibilities led me into what would become an extremely gratifying career as a Landscape Designer. After several years working in a more Traditional Style of design I began to develop what would become my signature style of Naturalistic Garden Design.
I am a firm believer in the Power of the Garden to promote wellness and healing of the Body, Mind and Spirit. This belief now leads me to, once again, shift my focus and venture down a new garden path.
Beginning in 2024 I will be putting an emphasis on the design and creation of Intimate Small Scale Gardens. Quite often smaller garden spaces allow for a deeper connection with Mother Nature. I consider this philosophy to be of vital importance. Therefore, I am beginning a new program, The Garden Gift.
